Find Cheaper hospital Plans in South Africa.
Cut price Hospital Plans are distinctly different from a medical aid.
A hospital plan covers you for expenses related to hospitalisation.
There is no cover for your average daily medical expenses, which makes the contributions more affordable.
The advantage of limiting cover is that you pay a far lower premium than you would for a comprehensive medical cover.
Hospitalisation costs can add up at an alarming rate, however, payment is guaranteed for the larger amounts.
Cut price Hospital Plans save you More on Premiums
Members will usually be able to elect a plan that allows them to use hospitals and medical professionals within a specified network. These plans are usually less expensive regarding premiums paid.
If you don’t want to be tied down to a particular network, you will normally be able to find assistance in that regard as well. The premiums will work out a little more expensive, but you will then have your choice of medical professionals and private hospitals.
Which plan to Choose?
Therein lies the rub. There are a large number of options on the market. And it’s hard to compare the various plans because they are all so different. No two companies offer the same benefits, and so an outright comparison at this level is impossible.
GTC Healthcare set out to try to make sense of the different plans. They compared plans regarding what they cost and what benefits they offered. They focused on plans that did not limit you to network hospitals and checked the benefits for chronic illness, PMBs and in-hospital fees.
Their survey Took 17 different Hospital plans into Account
The survey was not intended to be a complete analysis or report. It was not intended to contravene the Code of Conduct set out by the FAIS Act dealing with the comparison of different financial products.
Herewith the key findings as they relate to the ten hospital plans. The overriding factor for making it onto this list was that the policy offers good value for money. The comparison is for policies as they stood on 1 January 2016.
