Bare Minimum Benefits from KeyCare

KeyCare Core and all subsequent packages provide a basic set of minimum benefits. It includes all 270 prescribed conditions and chronic cover. You also get:

 

KeyCare Plus and KeyCare Access Day-to-Day Coverage

Both GP and specialist consultations are unlimited. However, preauthorization is needed after your 15th visit. Also, consultations, fillings and tooth removals are supported at an approved dentist. You are also given four visits to any doctor of your choice per year. So these do not need to be a part of the Discovery network. Also, Basic X-rays, prescribed medicine and blood, urine, tissue and fluid tests are all paid for. When visiting a network-approved optometrist, you are covered as well. Also, emergency cover requires a co-payment of R270 for your first visit. However, you don’t need the approval to visit a casualty centre. So wheelchairs, batteries, cushions, ramps, crutches and walkers all make a part of the KeyCare cover.
